Within our 14,000 square-foot facility, both private treatment rooms and spa suites are available to accommodate individuals, couples and friends.
We encourage advance appointments, but will do our best to accommodate last minute requests. To make the most of your experience at The Umstead Spa, please note the following:
Planning Your Visit:
The Umstead Spa is open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (appointments start at 9:00 a.m. and end at 8:00 p.m.). We ask that you arrive for your appointment at least 30 minutes early. Please enjoy The Umstead Spa at your own pace, taking time to rest in our relaxation lounges, having a spa cuisine lunch, stroll through our terraced gardens, or unwind in our separate ladies’ and gentlemen’s locker rooms, each with steam room, sauna and whirlpool. Use of spa facilities is complimentary to guests at least 18 years or older and receiving treatments equivalent to the price of a full massage or facial.
Use of Fitness Studio and Heated Outdoor Pool (Hotel Guests Only):
Our Fitness Studio is available on a complimentary basis 24 hours daily for hotel guests staying overnight. The Fitness Studio is unsupervised; however, we will gladly make arrangements for a personal trainer if you prefer a customized workout. Our Fitness Studio offers a full selection of Cybex weight machines, free weights and cardio-fitness machines equipped with flat screen TV/CD/DVD entertainment systems. The Hotel’s outdoor heated pool offers a peaceful setting for swimming among fountains, relaxing in our shallow lounging pool, dining in a private cabana or having a cocktail at the pool bar. Also enjoy our lakeside walking and jogging paths and surrounding gardens. The Hotel pool is exclusively for Hotel guests staying overnight.
For Your Comfort:
We recommend that you wear comfortable attire. Robes, slippers, towels, lockers, grooming amenities and safe-deposit boxes are provided for your convenience. To promote a relaxing environment, we ask that you refrain from turning on cell phones, PDA’s, laptops and other electronic devices at The Umstead Spa. The spa is an adult enclave; therefore we kindly ask that you be 18 years of age or older to enjoy our service and facilities. However, children under the age of 18, when accompanied by an adult, may receive a manicure or pedicure. The Umstead Spa is a smoke-free environment.
For Your Safety:
Please inform your receptionist and service providers if you are pregnant or if you have high blood pressure, heart ailments or any condition that may be contraindicated for heat therapies, massage or skin care. We highly discourage alcohol consumption prior to, during, or immediately following spa treatments. Please avoid immediate sun exposure following skin care therapy. Avoid shaving before a body exfoliation, Gentlemen's facial or depilatory treatment.
Cancellations:
If you are unable to make your appointment, please notify us at least twenty-four hours in advance to avoid charges. We request 48 hours notice for cancellation of any Spa package or appointments for parties of 3 or more.
Service Charge:
A 20 percent service charge will be added to all treatments and packages.
